Natural environment as a source of Inspiration

The natural environment is a great source of inspiration because it lives, it is alive.  In the natural environment, there are trees, shrubs plants and flowers. Observing all of these things of nature can be a meaningful motivator, a technique or a tool, time to think, to reflect and to consider how life dies and gives birth to new life.

Comparing nature to the human creativity and technology, like art, craft, textiles and homemaking, photography, videos and other sources of multimedia, the natural environment is truly visually inspiring, and it is so fantastic with biodiversity.

Are you experiencing depression?

Depression and sadness can be caused by negative feelings, that may come be caused by a poor depressing environment.  Which may be due to lack of dynamic creativity, not able to change the circumstances and the personal environment. Simply put a person has become stuck in a depressing rut. The way out of such rut is to be proactive. Here are some simple steps to get out of a depressing rut:

  • Clean the house, start by removing useless rubbish and thoroughly make the living space really tidy with lots of free space. Including removing clutter from table tops, benches, room corners, wardrobes and cupboards.
  • There is nothing unusual about such clean up, because in normal life things do accumulate over time and it needs to be taken care of by removing useless clutter every so often.
  • Think of the time when you first moved into the space that you live in, can you remember how much spare space there was, how the floors space was also free of clutter.
  • It may be practical to return the living space to the original state few times as a reminder of reality, and to help you keep focused on the goals that you want to achieve in life. Useless clutter can be a distraction in the living space and it can eat up much energy and waste it.
  • The alternative is to use the energy focusing on the goals that you need to reach and do every day in order to reach the big goals in your life that you perceive to be in a situation where you are healthy, happy and content in life.
  • The beginning of the New Year is such a time to really do a thorough clean up of the home and living space, but do it with respect to the other people that may be sharing the same space with you.
  • Some people don’t understand how a living space can be a distraction to the goals in life.
  • Maybe they have no personal goals in life. So it is good idea to share the New Year clean up idea with the people that you share the living space with so that they are informed of the virtues of starting the New Year from a clean slate to make plans and clear objective goals for the New Year to work towards.

Sea level affected by global warming

Sea level affected by global warming

Sea level affected by global warming which was caused by an increase in land temperature as well as the temperature of the sea. This consequently results in a rise in sea level. The rise in sea water temperature makes the water expand and increase in volume, which causes a periodic rise in the level of sea water. The sea level is estimated to have had a minimum rise of 2.5 cm over the past 100 years. By 2100, global warming affect rising sea water levels will be as high as 32 inches.

How will melting of Arctic ice affect sea levels?

An increase of additional 2° in global temperature will lead to total melting of the Greenland ice cap.

  • It has been estimated that melting Arctic ice will lead to a 5 – 6 m rise in sea level.
  • This will lead to submerging of even low-lying spots such as US Gulf Coast, Tuvalu, Lakshadweep and Bangladesh.
  • In case there is a melting of the entire Antarctic ice sheet, there will be a 10.m rise in the global sea level.
  • In case there is even a 22-inch rise in global sea level, islands such as Maldives will get submerged.
  • Even important cities such as Florida, Shanghai and Mumbai will go underwater similar to Atlantis – the lost ancient city.

The gradual submerging of Maldives is a grave example of how a rise in sea water level can impact modern civilization. At this rate, mankind is likely to encounter forced evacuation due to flooding.

Possible catastrophic disasters due to sea level rise

Other than submergence of cities in low regions and flooding, rise in the level of sea water will also cause a rise in water pressure over the seabed. This will consequently cause shifts in tectonic plates, which would ultimately lead to volcanic eruptions, frequent earthquakes and large-scale disasters such as tsunamis.

  • Flooding due to climate change will cause loss of fertile agricultural land, livestock and crops.
  • Possible submergence of densely populated cities such as Shanghai, Singapore and New York will reduce the livable area for humans by a significant measure, leading to forced migration for millions of humans.
  • The latest study by the World Bank has revealed that hundreds of millions of humans would be forced to leave their homes by the end of the present century.

The solution lies in immediate measures by governments of all developed and developing nations to reduce emission and other problems that lead to global warming. Collaborative and immediate measures are the need of the hour.

White Christmas in Finland

White Christmas in Finland

White Christmas in Finland is a fascinating experience

White Christmas in Finland falls in the beginning of the Nordic winter, the temperatures usually drop down to sub zero degree during the month of  November.  There is a big temperature difference from the Arctic Finland to the southern Finland, snow is almost guaranteed to be on the ground in the Arctic region for Christmas.  The lakes start to freeze over around October- November, and by December in the far north, the ice may be around 30 cm by the end of December. There is a lot of variation from year to year, in the worst case scenario the lakes don’t freeze up, or they thaw out with a week long warm spell.  Frozen over lakes are a must for many snowmobile and husky dog safaris, the lakes are used for cross country tracks that the safaris follow on their excursions.

White Christmas in Finland Safaris

Safaris distance and the duration vary a lot, some are for several hours only, others are day long or even overnight hut camping.  Snowmobile safaris may go for a week, covering hundreds of kilometers per day,  Some safaris travel from the Arctic Finland down to the Barents Sea in Norway, safaris should have an experienced guide or two with competence to manage the group and to evaluate the weather conditions and to travel safely with confidence.  A competent safari guide does not take risks, risk taking is for the inexperienced that are not professionally trained. I hope this video gives you some idea what the winter environment of Arctic Suomi is like so  that you can plan your holiday for a meaningful time.  See safari guide at the East Finland from here. Arctic photography in the Arctic circle is great fun

Fun it is if you enjoy being active and dynamic in the winter snow environment, whether skiing cross country, toboggan rides down a slope, alpine skiing or snowboarding or snowmobile safari out in the backcountry.  Whatever the season is there are opportunities for capturing something of interest in the winter season. Opportunities do come once you do venture out into the outdoors and keep your eyes open.

Plan well in advance

Trip to the Arctic region during the winter season needs to be planned well, there is a smaller margin for error during the winter season. During the summer and spring season, it is much easier to get around from place to place and indoors warm accommodation is a must. During the summer season, it is possible to camp in a campervan or a tent at a camping site.  In the winter, it is not possible to do so.  Watch the video for some pictures taken in various seasons of the year.  Hopefully, it gives you a better idea what it is like in the Arctic circle of Finland. Enjoy the video viewing of the Arctic photography.

Arctic Suomi

Arctic Suomi

Arctic Suomi has a fascinating natural environment region to explore and to discover it in any season.  It really is an Arctic environment with a unique biodiversity to the proximity to the North pole.  Over time, slowly the plants have adapted to the climate that it experiences today.

Arctic Suomi is a great natural environment.

Arctic Suomi has a great natural environment in any season of the year. The winter is more popular for some people for their recreational reasons of skiing, snowboarding, snowmobile touring and also for the Christmas holiday season. The end of the year school holidays in many parts of the world and the February-march school holidays in the Nordic, Scandinavian and Europe region makes the winter season more popular because the holidays fall during that season. Some people do also get holidays during the June-August months of the year. The peak summer season in the Arctic Suomi region is during the June to August months. Some variation from year to year, with the August month being the beginning of the Autumn season.
